My Story will Scare You

When you enter today’s operating rooms, you’re behind enemy lines!

This website is dedicated to discussing the medical and legal issues of Michael Stuart, a former member of the United States Air Force, focusing on the challenges and complexities he has faced following a failed back surgery and subsequent medical care.

The situation involves three key entities: the good, the bad, and the ugly.

  • The Good:Baylor Scott & White” – They diagnosed and performed the revision surgery that addressed complications from a botched operation managed by the Dallas VA, UTSW, and Dr. Kesterson.
  • The Bad:  “UTSW / VA” – The VA employed both Dr. Kesterson and UTSW who neglected to address surgical mistakes for over two years, during which time the patient progressively lost mobility.
  • The Ugly:Dr. Kesterson” – Following the surgery, where he operated on the wrong vertebrae, ceased providing care and closed his practice.

Most patients enter the healthcare system without any idea of the risks they face, due to a medical culture that denies there is a patient safety problem. The medical culture actively avoids transparency, perpetuates an atmosphere of blind deference to doctors, and protects dangerous doctors from any accountability. – Dr. Larry Schlachter, Neurosurgeon
