- The Bad: “UTSW / VA” – The VA employed both Dr. Kesterson and UTSW who neglected to address surgical mistakes for over two years, during which time the patient progressively lost mobility.
- The Ugly: “Dr. Kesterson” – Following the surgery, where he operated on the wrong vertebrae, ceased providing care and closed his practice.
Most patients enter the healthcare system without any idea of the risks they face, due to a medical culture that denies there is a patient safety problem.
